Purified split inactivated influenza virus [type A (H1N1) 15 mcg, type A (H3N2) 15 mcg, type B (Victoria) 15 mcg, type B (Yamagata) 15 mcg]
Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis against influenza caused by influenza subtype A & B viruses in adult & childn ≥3 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult & childn ≥3 yr 0.5 mL as a single dose. Childn <9 yr who have not been vaccinated or infected by flu Administer 2 doses in at least 4 wk interval.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to egg, chicken, any other chicken component, & drug component. Anaphylaxis. Febrile patient or w/ malnutrition. Patients w/ CV & kidney disorders, or liver disease in acute phase, stadium increment, or active phase; acute resp disease or other active infectious disease; latent & convalescence period of flu. Patient who had fever w/in 2 days or allergy symptom eg, generalized rash after the inj at previous vaccination. Patient who showed Guillain-Barre syndrome or w/ neurological disorders w/in 6 wk from previous flu vaccination. Patient in inappropriate condition to be vaccinated.
Special Precautions
High fever symptoms & convulsion. Insufficient Ab response in patients w/ endogenous or iatrogenic immunosuppression or diagnosed w/ immunodeficiency disease. Administer vaccine before prevailing. Person w/ chronic CV & resp disorders or diabetes. May affect the ability to drive or use machines. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Pain, tenderness, erythema/redness, induration/swelling; fever, sweating, chills, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, malaise, headache, muscle aches, arthralgia.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ immunosuppressants may diminish immunological response.
